Solution
Health assessments play a critical role in providing safe and effective client care. My practice depends on the requisite needs of health experiences each patient demands out of me. I conduct either a broad or a narrowed assessment. Complete assessments including physical assessment, medical history, vital signs testing and examination findings and psychology factors’ evaluation are done during first experience with patients. Treating patients with certain medical problems or relevant changes in their condition involves specialized ‘focused’ assessments by healthcare providers. In working in the acute care setting, I performed respiratory evaluations of shortness of breath patients by performance of breast sounds screening and oxygen saturation measurement as well as assessed breathing difficulty.
One experience that underscored the importance of adequate health assessment involved a patient who presented with vague complaints of fatigue and dizziness.
